Abstract | This research examined relationships between the Basic Education Core Curriculum Requirements and English proficiency tests written by school teachers. The data came from test papers’ analysis by the experts and in-depth interviews with three key informants, who are school teachers at three different secondary schools in Northeast Thailand. The data were analyzed by using the Critical Discourse Analysis approach aiming to uncover presupposed beliefs and expectations with respect to English language teaching and assessment in Thailand. The informants expressed their struggles and concerns with respect to their limitations and expectations in the current Basic Education Core Curriculum Requirements and the actual teaching contexts in those schools. |
