Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether Pratomsuksa 6 English tests in Buntharik district, Ubon Ratchathani are reliable. The instruments of this study are 20 final English multiple-choice tests which teachers made to assess their students in academic year 2004. They were randomly selected from 52 primary schools in Buntharik district, Ubon Ratchathani province. The length of tests was between 30-50 items. The data are the 20 tests, the test scores of all the students who took them, and the number of items in each test. This study estimated the test reliability by using Kuder-Richardson formula 21 (KR21). The results of the study indicate that the reliability coefficients of Pratomsuksa 6 English tests are less than 0.80, which are unsatisfactory. This may be due mainly to limited ability of teachers in writing tests.
